Gill's Freeport offers Pecatonica residents a complimentary 95-gallon waste container, ideal for larger families and households with higher waste output. Weekly waste collection is scheduled every Wednesday.

Recycling Service in Pecatonica

Residents may request a 65-gallon container to join the community's recycling program. Additional recycling bins are also available. Please make sure that the tote is not packed full, there are no plastic bags, and that any cardboard is broken down into 3ft x 3ftbundles.
Yard Waste Pickup in Pecatonica
Yard Waste is picked up in April through Novemeber please contact the office for exact dates. Yard waste material must be placed in compostable paper bags or in 35 gallon or smaller refuse cans that have been marked with a large "X" that is plainly visible from the street.
Each can, bag, or bundle will require stickers. Twigs, branches and other types of large brush that cannot fit into either of these containers must be placed in bundles, no more than 4 feet long by 2 feet in diameter. Branches and limbs exceeding 4 inches in diameter will not be accepted. Bundles should be tied with string or twine, not metal. Additional restrictions to yard waste collection include mulch, tree stumps, roots balls or other vegetation mixed with excessive amounts of soil. No bag, can, or bundle can weigh more than 50 pounds when loaded. Yard waste cannot be mixed with regular garbage nor placed in plastic bags for pickup.
Bulky Item Collection in Pecatonica
Two bulk item (under 50 pounds) per week will be collected on Wednesday at no charge. Bulk items exceeding 50 pounds will require an additional fee. You must Contact us to schedule a collection.
Bulk items include: boxes, barrels, crates, furniture, and similar items that do not fit into a proper container and can be collected/lifted by one driver without assistance. Exceptions include items which are banned from direct disposal into a landfill (appliances, tires, car batteries, TV’s, electronic waste). No construction waste accepted. Carpet pickups are call on demand.
Contact us to schedule a pick up in advance. Items should not be placed at the curb until the evening before the confirmed scheduled collection.
