What Goes in the Recycling Bin?

Acceptable Items
Tin and Aluminum Cans

(Cans should be empty. Labels can be left on.)
Plastic Containers Marked #1‐#7 (excluding #6)
- Pop bottles
- Water bottles
- Cooking oil bottles
- Peanut butter jars (lids included)
- Milk and juice jugs
- Margarine/butter tubs
- Yogurt cups
- Ketchup bottles
- Household cleaners
- Coffeecreamers.
(Please be sure to keep the lids secure on these containers. Labels can also be left on.)
Paper and Other Fibers
- Newspapers

- Plastic silverware
- Film plastics (plastic bags, saran wrap, shrink wrap, bubble wrap)
- Solo cups.
- No prescription bottles.
Paper and Other Fibers
- No self‐stick labels
- Gum/candy wrappers
- Tissue paper
- Waxedpaper
- Paper cups
- Paper towels
- Shredded paper
- Used paperplates or pizza boxes
(No fiber soiled with food waste.)
Glass Bottles and Jars
- No flat glass
- Light bulbs
- Flatware

How To Prepare Recyclables
Check weather forecast: If the forecast calls for high winds or rain, keep your recyclables inside until the following pickup if possible.
Remove all packaging (Styrofoam, peanuts, plastic, bubble wrap, plastic liners, etc.)
Cover loose paper with heavier containers to prevent it from blowing away.
Do not place plastic bags your recycle bin: Always place your recyclables directly in your recycling container.

- Remove caps or lids
- Rinse thoroughly
- It is OK to leave on labels and neck ringsPaper & cardboard
- Flatten ALL boxes
- Bundle all cardboard that does not fit into the recycling bin and tie with natural twine
